STEMmersion - the best way to spend the last ten days of school

This presentation will provide an overview of the STEMmersion program at the Dayton Regional STEM School. During the final 10 days of school, all DRSS students in grades 6-11 participate in an all-day, multi-age, multidisciplinary course that provides this with learning and experiences they might not have otherwise. Whether visiting and learning about Canada's landscape and culture, exploring the geology of Mammoth Cave, planning and executing an "Unplugged" camping trip, or learning about the properties of metal while making jewelry, each STEMmersion course includes intensive project-based learning to end the school year in a memorable and unique way. This program also allows our 10th and 11th grade students to complete their required 72-hour internship during the school year, if they so choose. Come explore courses we've offered in the past, learn how we organize and set up this program - from course proposals to student sign-ups - and imagine how a similar experience might enrich your students' lives.
